Internalizing problems in children are significant areas of study in child and adolescent psychiatry, as they directly impact a child's development and overall well-being. These issues can significantly affect a child's mental and emotional health. The present study aimed to determine the mediating role of maternal emotion socialization in the relationship between maternal self-silencing and internalizing problems in childhood. This research study is classified as both a basic research study and one that utilizes a structural equation modeling (SEM) design. The statistical population included all married mothers aged 18 to 45 years in a non-clinical population with children aged 3 to 5 years living in Gorgan city. A total of 350 individuals participated in the study using a convenience sampling method. Finally, 300 mothers responded online to the scales of the secondary trauma stress scale , the Coping with Children's Negative Emotions Scale (CCNES), and the Child Behavior Checklist . All analyses were done using SPSS 26 and AMOS 24 software. The results showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between self-silence and non-supportive socialization reactions, internalization problems, and a negative and significant relationship with supportive reactions (P<0.001)
