Abstract

The purpose of this research was to investigate the psychometric properties of the relational-connectivity scale and to compare relationship quality typological based on insecure attachment and depression. the research was a descriptive-correlational. 333 married people in Tehran participated in the study through online recall. Relational-connectivity scale, Kansas marital satisfaction scale, Experience in Close Relationship and The Patient Health Questionnaire-2 were used to collect the data. the total Cronbach’s alpha was 0.95 and McDonald’s omega index was 0.959. the results of exploratory factor analysis showed that 11 questions were loaded on one factor which explained 73.64% of the variance of the relational-connectivity scale. Correlation of this scale with marital satisfaction, avoidant attachment, anxious attachment and depression was significant (p<0/01). confirmatory factor analysis after model modification (11-item) indicated a good fit with the data. Also, the results of analysis of variance (MANOVA) to compare four types of relationship quality, including languishing, flourishing, satisfied less-connected and connected, less-satisfied were significant in terms of insecure attachment and depression (p<0/01); there was no significant difference between men and women (p>0/01). Overall, the relational-connectivity tool has suitable psychometric properties, and paying attention to the typology of marital quality can lead to new conceptualizations in this field.
