The goal of current research was to assess the relationship between mothers’ cognitive emotion regulation style and their reactions to children’s negative emotions. To do so, 400 mothers that had 3 to 6 years old child were selected via multi-stage sampling and assessed by Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ) and Coping with Children's Negative Emotions Scale (CCNES). Results indicated that mothers’ maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation have positive relation with their non-supportive reactions to children’s negative emotions and mothers’ adaptive cognitive emotion regulation have positive relation with their supportive reactions to children’s negative emotions. Regression analysis results discussed also. According to previous studies which represent cognitive emotion regulation strategies are related to mental health and the result of this study that shows the relationship of these strategies with more efficient reaction to children’s emotion, it seems interventional plans that improve mothers’ cognitive emotion regulation strategies can make better mental health for mothers and children simultaneously
