Comparison of Distress tolerance threshold, marital intimacy and Sexual satisfaction in couples with and without Coronavirus anxiety: online study

Abstract

The aim of the current study is to compare distress tolerance threshold, marital intimacy, and sexual satisfaction in couples with and without coronavirus anxiety. In this study descriptive and sectional causal-comparative research methodology was used. The statistical population of the research was all the couples in Sanandaj in 2021 from June to July. The sample consisted of 30 people as main group and 30 people as comparison group which were selected by online available sampling method. The research instruments were distress tolerance threshold, marital intimacy, sexual satisfaction, coronavirus anxiety questionnaires. The result with analysis of variance test show the average of distress tolerance threshold, marital intimacy, and sexual satisfaction in couples with coronavirus anxiety is less than the counter group without coronavirus anxiety. Based on the results of the present study, it can be stated that anxiety caused by Corona can have a significant impact on the interpersonal functioning of couples.
