There are different perspectives on the concept of homemaking among women and men in every society. The aim of this study is to qualitatively explore the concept of homemaking among women and men, and to compare them with each other. The approach of this research is qualitative, using thematic analysis to analyze data obtained from semi-structured interviews with 32 individuals (15 women and 17 men) from the residents of Yazd City. After analyzing the data, 42 initial concepts, 7 sub-themes, and 2 main themes were identified. "Role Obliteration," "Domestic Imprisonment," "Capital Repression," and "Role Freezing" are the main themes related to women, while "Essential Femininity," "Role-Biological Adherence," and "Prescriptive Identity" are the main themes related to men in relation to the concept of homemaking in this study. The findings of this research indicate that the concept of homemaking differs between women and men. What is evident in this comparison is women's tendency to accept social changes in their roles and recognize their power of choice, while men prefer to maintain traditional gender roles and prioritize homemaking without any diminishment in life, while also being open to accepting the modern female role.
