The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between family function and responsibility and satisfaction of basic psychological needs of high school male students. In this descriptive study, the correlation between the statistical population of the high school male students in district 1 of Tehran was 362 as the sample based on Cochran formula. A random cluster sampling method was used. For the purpose of this study, all male secondary schools in District 1 of Tehran were selected from 5 schools and two schools were randomly selected from each school. Then, students who were attending these classes were provided with simple refinement of the students Selected as samples. The McDemester Family Factor Questionnaire (FAD), Negative Responsibility (2008) and satisfaction of Garcia, Dace and Ryan (2000) psychological needs were used to collect information. The results showed that family function affects the responsiveness and satisfaction of basic psychological needs in high school students. There is also a positive and significant relationship between family function and its seven dimensions (function, problem solving, communication, roles and responsibilities, behavior blending, behavior control, emotional responsiveness) with responsibility and satisfaction of the students' basic psychological needs.
