Premarital education programs for achieving real beliefs and expectations about marriage and mate selection are very suitable. The present study aims to investigate the effectiveness of the SYMBIS-based training model on girls’ beliefs about mate selection and marriage expectations. The sample size consisted of 30 Iranian single girls volunteered to participate in the study. They were divided into two experimental and control groups (each with 15 participants). The two groups answered the researcher-made Beliefs about Mate Selection Scale (BMSS) and Marriage Expectation Scale (MES) in pretest, posttest, and follow-up stages. The results obtained from those questionnaires were analyzed via the repeated measures ANOVA. The results showed the more effectiveness of the SYMBIS-based training model on reducing irrational beliefs and expectations about marriage in the experimental group than the control group. Also indicated was the sustainability of the training model after 3 month. As a conclusion, the SYMBIS model can be used in premarital training and counseling models and programs.
