Prediction of marital intimacy based on object Relations and social cognition in couples with obsessive compulsive symptoms

Abstract

Obsessive -compulsive disorder can lead to emotional and physical distance between couples. Excessive control over emotions prevents self-stimulation in the relationship and disrupts intimacy, which is a major problem for patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder. the present study was conducted with the aim of predicting marital intimacy based on object Relations and social cognition in couples with obsessive-compulsive symptoms.The current research was a regression type in terms of the fundamental objective and in terms of collecting correlational data.The statistical population of the present study was couples with obsessive-compulsive symptoms .Screening among 500 couples according to the entry criteria was conducted and 136 people were selected in an available manner.Pearson's correlation test and stepwise regression were used to analyze the findings.The results of Pearson's test show that object Relations and its subscales have a positive and significant relationship with marital intimacy at the 0.01 level, and social cognition does not have a significant relationship with marital intimacy, object Relations, and its subscales.Social cognition in couples with obsessive-compulsive disorder should be further investigated.On the other hand, By improving the quality of object Relations and its subscales, an effective step can be taken to increase the marital intimacy of couples with obsessive-compulsive symptoms
