خشنودی، رضایت و خوشبختی زندگی نیاز به تلاش زوجین دارد. سازگاری در روابط زناشویی بر میزان سلامت روانی زوجین، میزان رضایت از زندگی و حتی بر میزان درآمد، موفقیت تحصیلی و رضایت از شغل تأثیر می‌گذارد. از سویی دیگر ناسازگاری در روابط زوجین موجب اختلال در روابط اجتماعی، گرایش به انحرافات اجتماعی، افول ارزشهای فرهنگی در بین زوجین می‌شود. براین اساس، توجه، مطالعه و پژوهش در زمینه سازگاری و ناسازگاری زناشویی مهم و اساسی است. هدف اصلی این پژوهش تعیین‌عوامل مرتبط و مؤثر بر سازگاری و ناسازگاری زوجین بود. برای این منظور از مدل دو بعدی عوامل زمینهای- فردی و عوامل ارتباطی- دوجانبهای استفاده شد. این پژوهش به روش توصیفی‌ـ زمینه‌یابی انجام شد و در آن 900 زوج از بین ساکنین مناطق مختلف شهر تهران با استفاده از روش خوشه‌ای چند مرحله‌ای انتخاب و مورد بررسی قرار گرفتند. ابزار مورد استفاده برای جمعآوری اطلاعات آزمون رضایت زناشویی انریچ و پرسشنامه عوامل مرتبط با سازگاری زناشویی بود. نتایج حاصل از پژوهش نشان داد که از بین متغیرها و مؤلفه‌های مورد بررسی آشنایی قبلی زوجین با یکدیگر، روابط صمیمی در دوران نامزدی، روابط صمیمی در بین خانوادههای زوجین، رابطه صمیمی بین والدین زوجین، تقیدات مذهبی زوجین و وجود مدیریت مشارکتی در خانواده با سازگاری زناشویی زوجین ارتباط داشت. وجود سازگاری زناشویی برای خوشبختی زندگی مهم است. برای افزایش سازگاری زناشویی باید هم به عوامل زمینهایـ فردی و هم به عوامل ارتباطیـ دوجانبهای توجه داشت.
